NHS Homework Planner

This is the current Northwood High School planner cover that I designed last year (the winner of the contest had their design published as the cover). The theme was "contrast," and so I took our mascot "the Northwood Timberwolves" and made a literal interpretation of that.

This year the school is holding the same contest, but the theme is "For the good of the pack." This one was actually pretty challenging, and I thought of all types of illustration ideas.
I got lucky in my opinion with these two ideas.

This is like our school salute? Our little hand gesture of school patriotism.
It's a wolf :P

Alice in Wonderland Portfolio

This is my entrance portfolio to Art Center College of Design's entertainment design major.

I got in the fall 2010 term.

My portfolio is based on Lewis Carrol's famous book Alice and Wonderland.  I chose this story for the topic of my portfolio because I found the story open to interpretation, which allowed me to bring a dark, surrealistic art direction to the project.  In my Alice in Wonderland, everything also follows an Asian theme, which completely changes the design of the setting and characters.

Giants

Giants. Formed by the wrath and hate of mankind, contained in a bubble supported by pipes and machinery, these monsters serve as guardians of the dark realms in which phantoms dwell. They also guard the those who attempt to escape phantom-claimed territories. They have the growth potential become more than 100 ft in height, an extension that would seem to have no end.

Giants tend to dwell under dark areas, and like their phantom cousins they have the ability to blend in with their surroundings. When needed, they will rush out of hiding. Rarely are they aggressively ambitious in chasing, and for the most part they remain true to only their role as guardians.

Yet on the occasion if the Giants were to act aggressively, it would be because one has induced them to act in such fashion.

The Infected

The worse has come. The phantoms that have lived among humans have now discovered a method of inhabiting within their skins. They show their true faces when the host is put under stress/pressure. This stress factor thus wakes the phantom from it's sleep and therefore begins to dominate its host. The human returns to his or her true form once the task of killing its target (usually us) is complete.

Phantom 5

A female phantom. This things may be slow at running, yet their brute strength along with the ability to extend their arm length (swinging those giant blades) prove them to be just as deadly as the other phantoms. They usually aren't seen mingling w/ the other phantoms and usually don't get along w/ each them either.
Now you ask, how the heck was the gender determined?

*I dunno I just decided to make a female one o_o. Use your imagination? haha.

Phantom 4

An elite phantom, this one is usually seen making the "calls." As far as we can tell, these phantoms don't make any noise, yet there is rumors that they do indeed speak. Amongst bystanders they are the ones disguised as businessmen with cell phones at hand, and whether they really converse amongst themselves (or anyone at all) is unknown.

There are intricate designs on their armor and overall is stylized to resemble a samurai. They even throw shurikens and have been seen before flying, yet...

Phantom 3

Not as agile as number 2 nor as noisy, this mute creature is rarely seen amongst bystanders. From his right arm he omits a deadly dark aura that scorches the surface of anything it touches. It's thick, tough shell allows it to ram through barriers as well as serve as a tough shield.

The texture here seems to be similar to coral reef wouldn't you say?
